Matthieu Caillat was recently appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of AXA Corporate Solutions UK, based in London. At the same time, Matthieu has joined the executive committee of AXA Corporate Solutions and has become CEO of AXA Matrix Risk Consultants UK. He succeeds Emmanuel Nivet who held the post for five years and is now CEO of AXA Affin General Insurance in Malaysia.
Matthieu Caillat is well versed in marine insurance. Before moving to London as managing director of the UK branch he had been based for seven years in the Paris headquarters of AXA CS, having joined the company as a trainee in 2003. For a number of years he was heavily involved in marine insurance, travelling widely and assisting Patrick de La Morinerie, Deputy Chief Executive of AXA Corporate Solutions and head of its marine and aviation operations.
In London, Matthieu’s mission is to pursue selective growth and keep improving added-value services to foster long-term partnerships with UK clients and brokers. The UK branch writes an important cargo insurance book of business for UK and overseas clients.
In spite of the worldwide difficult trading conditions for ship and cargo owners, he is optimistic about the future. “AXA CS has a significant portfolio size (€500m) and a robust mix of business that is healthily spread in terms of geography and trade sectors,” he said.
